Below we have made a list of some of the most common benefits experienced as a result of quitting cannabis . Some of these are short term benefits, and some are long term life changing benefits. The nature of the benefit depends on the quitters time of abstinence from the drug.

reported Benefits of quitting weed

Increased energy levels-

Cannabis may sometimes make you believe you need it for motivation, it does in fact as we all know do the absolute opposite. During the initial cannabis detox week, energy levels are often down, and although insomnia is a common side effect , it's somehow coupled with a lethargic head fog, which feels could be quite easily eradicated through using cannabis .  These symptoms are generally one of the first type to go during the cannabis detox , and increasing energy levels fast become noticeable .  The increased energy is reported to be visibly noticable after the quitters first week of abstinence.

Increased confidence and elimination of social Anxiety

Cannabis lets the addict believe s/he is more at ease while smoking cannabis .  Cannabis actually often turns an addict into a social recluse, making him/her feel separated from the rest of society , often making a naturally sociable person retreat inwardly towards stoned isolation .  Quitters' have reported an increased level of confidence within the first week of quitting, and in particular the ability to hold a conversation with eye contact and no excess self analysis , something many self confessed cannabis addicts admit to struggling with .

 More rational

Although people often argue that chronic cannabis smoking makes them more rational, this is generally because they are often comparing the alternative of being stoned to a cannabis detox . During the cannabis detox tolerance levels fall , and a range of emotions are experienced, causing irrational fears and upsets . This often leads people to believe they need to use cannabis in order to 'chill themselves out '. After the first few weeks of giving up cannabis, rational thought processes return and life problems are faced and solved , not fogged out and pushed away .

Better Breathing

The effects on the breathing are reported as being experienced as soon as the first couple of days of cannabis detox, and more often within the first 2 weeks.  Quitters have reported the ability to breath deeper, run faster and for longer, and a general feel of well being .

Better Memory

As we all know, a stoner has a terrible memory . Although this is sometimes seen in joke fashion , for an addict ,it's a little more serious.  Experiences and life is not recollected in the same way as that of a non stoned person . Years of being constantly stoned loses memories. Often stoned memories are less vivid than those of a clear sober mind.

Better Food Habits

Cannabis addiction often fuels bad eating habits.  Quitters Have noted a significant drop in poor eating habits within the first 3 weeks of the quit , claiming that eradicating the 'munchies'  , and also being more aware of the foods being chosen has made a positive change to eating habits in a short time

No concerns about hiding

Cannabis addicts often feel guilty about hiding their addiction from certain friends and family . A feeling of a 'guilty secret ' is often encountered .  Quitters report that not being controlled by the drug is very liberating , and a feeling of 'having nothing to hide ' is often experienced as soon as the first couple of days of quitting .
