hi everyone ive just joined this site as my dealer has disappeared off the face of the earth and i think i should probably take this oppurtunity to try and quit! ive wanted to quit for a long time now as i know its screwing my life up but have never had the will power. ive smoked it pretty much all day, every day for about 6 years now and i really am dependant on it... its all i have to look forward to and the only thing i can find comfort in and i really dont know what could possibly replace it.

this is day 2 with nothing to smoke and i have lost every tiny bit of motivation i had left to do anything- have all the usual side effects which is horrible and i cant eat a thing and i dont even wanna talk to anyone cause i dont wanna be nice im just being so rude to people! didnt get a wink of sleep last night.

i think i am going to find it really hard to get up and face the world tomorrow - im already diagnosed with severe depression and anxiety and smoking is the only thing that helps it. it is really quite scary to come out of this little bubble, other people who smoke it and are not addicted dont seem to have a clue how tough it is...

just wondering if anyone has any tips and if anyone can tell me if and when it is likely to get easier?! i really want some help because if someone rings me now saying shops open i know full well i will drop everything and be out that door in seconds! if ur still reading this i would be really greatful for a reply,

thanks and happy quitting

Lorna - glad you joined us - do you have any other reasons for wanting to quit?   I know when you're without it's easy to think of only the reasons why you WANT to smoke - what are the reasons you want to quit?
The first 3 - 4 days are the worst for me (and I put myself through them MANY times before I really got serious about quitting) - It will get easier - hope you've taken the time to read through some of the posts here.  We're all here because smoking eventually creates more problems in your life than it solves - and the longer you smoke the harder it seems to be to change.  I smoked for 10+ years - like you, every day all day.

Keep posting and tell us how you're doing.

Hey Lorna,  You sound like i felta couple of weeks ago.  I too suffer from severe anxiety.  So much so that i had to get help for that problem specifically.  The pot was to numb out what the meds wouldn't.  Been sober about a month now, (Trying real hard not to count the days)  It definately feels so much better, thanx in large part to everyone here! Never have i encountered such a caring group of people, and i'm sure i wouldn't have come this far without them, you've come to the right place!!!

As for talking to people, i still don't talk that much to my friends.  i figure that my true friends will understand and the ones that don't..really shouldn't matter that much, are they really my friends after all? You're doing this thing for you, noone else and you should be very proud of your accomplishment!

I'm rootin for you and everone else that's still going through the changes.  Hang in there, you'll soon find that it was so worth it! take care, keep up the good work!!
