Ok, so I decided to stop smoking weed. I gave up smoking tobacco 6 years ago, how hard can giving up weed be??! (I smoke weed in a pipe, neat) This was about 3 years ago and since then, every time I have scored I have decided, 'this is the last time'. Of course, it hasn't been, but finally, last week, I DID buy my last bag o' weed.

2 days ago, I ran out of weed and made the concious decision to not buy any again.

Due to the fact that I have repeatedly told my girlfriend I am going to give up (she's heard it all before!!), I am not getting much support from her - my fault, not hers!

I found this website this morning after waking up in what can only be described as a sopping wet, sweaty mess! Eww, not pleasant at all, and I decided to look up sweating and the withdrawal of cannibis, and came across this site. I'm glad I did, because I am going to need support and as just about all of my friends smoke weed, I have nobody to turn to. Well, unless you count my best mate, who IS supportive, but also sells weed! He has agreed to not offer me any, how nice.

So, I'm 38 now, been smoking since I was 17. I am a manager with a large mobile telecommunications company and I have until 21st Feb off work, so I hope to go back at least a little refreshed! I used to smoke weed from the moment I dropped the kids to school until I went to bed at night - always away from the kids, and my team at work all know I smoke, so that might be a shock to some of them when I get back. I hope the 'Oh Alex, he's a real nice laid back boss' doesn't leave and get replaced by moody Alex!

Oh wait, I'm moody and snappy now!! (must be the weed!)

Anyway, I'm glad I stumbled upon this site - even if nobody responds to me, at least I have somewhere to rant!

I haven't read many other posts yet, but to all others out there giving up - good luck. Together, we WILL do this.

Hey, thanks for replying :)

Harry, I too am determined this time - I can't believe I'm here on this site really - 10 years ago I remember saying I would want to be an old man, having a joint!! What a fool! Imagine that now, not a good image!

Mark, I'm on day 2, it's 11:30pm ish and mate, I SOOO want to go grab some weed, so I came here. More coffee in a minute too! I'm not looking forward to having the sweats again tonight, I get them really bad - I'm not even (that!) fat ffs!! Is thata pic of your dog? It's a bloody good photo! :)

Keep not smoking guys :)

Hey boys - glad to see you all here.  The night sweats are really the worst of it  - that and the pissy mood.  :)  Hang in there - you're doing the right thing for yourselves.  This is the place to rant if you have to - we've all done it.  And you're certainly among friends who've all been (or still are) where you are now.

The urges will get less - get busy with something you enjoy, if possible - doesn't help to sit home watching "Weeds" on the telly :/

It will get easier, Alex.  I think the night sweats bring on the realization that there really IS a physical detox to the quit - it isn't just all 'psychological', as many would have us believe.  It will take a few weeks for your body chemistry to get back to normal.    Glad you are determined to keep it going - it WILL

get better and IS worth it!

Well, another sweaty night! I have started to sleep downstairs on a spare mattress so that my girlfriend can get a good nights sleep. Really weird this morning, as soon as my girlfriend left for work I thought to myself 'right, walk the dog, have a pipe.....'. Like it's normal! Cravings are bad today, but I have a busy day (and you guys) to keep me away.

Very emotional too - anybody else had that? I started to tell the mrs how sorry I was that I smoked for so long yesterday and burst into tears! (don't tell anyone!!)

Hey Soph, hope you get some sleep - I didn't sleep very much at all last night. The good part is that I didn't sweat either! I guess cos I wasn't asleep for longer than about an hour at a time :(

Gonna try and sleep now.

Eep, why is my dog on her side??!
