I have just posted in the cannabis quitting journals section, then saw this. Doh!!!! But I still get to be the first person to post. How exciting?!
I am a bit disappointed really to see there are no other newbies in town, I thought there would be lots of people hoping to change their lives in the new year/new decade.
Although I have to say I think the thought of not smoking for a whole year scares me. I have not done this since I started - I dont suppose many of us have, else we wouldn't need to be here. But I see the new year as a starting point. I am not trying to think of not smoking for a year, or forever (even worse) but just take each day as it comes and just focus on not smoking for that day. This worked for me before, although obviously I fell for the trap again! Doh!
I look forward to (hopefully) seeing more new year quitters on here soon.
Yours,

Weedless - I think everyone has taken a vacation!! - But glad you posted - I think the others will check in soon. I too am hoping that several others will start again - or at least check in. Not surprised if the holidays prompted a few relapses. Hope your Day 2 is going well - please keep posting. | |

Hello Weedless, Congratulations on making such a firm decision. It's a very good idea to just take it a day at a time. I knew someone in the Alcoholics Anonymous who said it's a common technique - for them, the thought of a lifetime without booze can be overwhelming, so they tell themselves that they'll have a drink tommorow, then repeat it tommorow, then the next day... eventually it turns into a year, then a lifetime!
